Since the natural movements of the human hand are very complex, it is difficult to provide adequate aids for people with corresponding amputations. The design of the BrainRobotics hand prosthesis was done against the background that known metal hooks or static prostheses have limited functionality, as well as robotic prostheses that only offer the option of switching between predefined gestures. The AI prosthesis, which is very inexpensive in comparison, combines artificial intelligence with programming that can be used individually. This new type of functionality is based on the residual limb sending muscle signals that are translated into prosthetic movements by electromyographic sensors.
