The one-piece stoma supply consists of a collection bag with integrated adhesive plate. These bags can only be used once. They can be closed or provided with a drain opening.
Closed systems are suitable for smaller and solid excretion volumes. These are mainly used by colestomy carriers, as the excreted stool is firmer in them. Closed bags usually have an activated carbon filter through which all intestinal gases can escape in a neutral odour.
Bags with a discharge opening are called "scrap bag" or "open system". The discharge opening at the bottom of the collection bag empties the body waste collected in the bag. They are mainly used by ileostomy carriers, as the excreted stool is thinner in them. The bag can thus be emptied without changing the entire supply.
