Description:
The heavy blanket was used years ago in so-called restraint therapy, including for the treatment of people with autistic symptoms. This involves deep-sensory (proprioceptive) feedback coupled with emotional affection. In these and similar clinical pictures, the pressure on one's own body by means of the heavy blanket leads to changes in stimulus processing and thus often to a positive self-perception. Weight load and duration of treatment can therefore influence sensitivity, stimulus processing and acceptance. Comparable results have been achieved in sensory integration therapy and basal stimulation.
Application examples:
Roll up the blanket yourself; roll yourself up; move the roll; pull yourself out again; feel individual body parts by covering (arms, legs); feel, press, crumple with fingers/hands; move individual body parts when covered or covered, barefoot experiences; hide things under the blanket, pull them out again; lift the blanket (weight); can be used as play material.
