Electrocardiogram devices (ECG)

ECG devices record the heart rhythm based on the electrical excitation of the heart during a heartbeat. The ECG examination is useful in cases of high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia or arteriosclerosis, among others.

A distinction is made between long-term, resting and exercise ECGs. Long-term ECGs record the heartbeat over a longer period of time, for example if cardiac arrhythmias occur irregularly. The resting ECG is performed on people lying down and relaxed, while the exercise ECG is performed during physical exertion, for example on a treadmill.
