Blood glucose meters with lancing devices are used for self-measurement and self-monitoring to detect blood glucose levels that are too high or too low. This is particularly important for the insulin therapy of people with diabetes.
There are blood glucose meters with voice output or extra large dials for visually impaired people. Newer devices for continuous glucose measurement are, for example, CGM systems (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) and FGM systems (Flash Glucose Monitoring).
