Assistive Product STIWELL med4

Product Type:

Muscle Stimulator / Biofeedback Device

Areas of Application:

- Increasing Quality of Life
- Restoring Mobility and Independence
- Rehabilitation of Motor Functions
- Increasing Motivation through Biofeedback Games on the PC (Visual and Auditory)

- Stroke (especially when the clinical presentation shows moderate or moderately pronounced paralysis)
- Brain dysfunction

Features / Components:

- Technique: NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation) / EMG (Electromyogram) - triggered electrical stimulation
- multi-channel control allows simulation of complex movements (simultaneous and sequential)
- 4 independent stimulation channels
- 2 measurement channels
- 8 pre-programmed programs
- 20 individually storable programs
- electrical stimulation is triggered by the voluntary residual muscle activity of the target muscle
- enhancement of the therapy effect possible by intention-dependent EMG triggering
- "EMG inhibition" prevents unwanted compensatory movement of the patient
- USB interface allows larger display of EMG activity on PC (biofeedback games)
- with "spasticity control", d. h. a new stimulation is only possible after relaxation of the stimulated muscle (falling below a previously defined thresh

The STIWELL med4 device measures and processes the EMG signal of the weak muscle and compares it to a specific threshold. Electrical stimulation of the muscle, increasing its contraction, is triggered when the signal exceeds this threshold. To avoid muscle over-fatigue, the stimulation is followed by a minimum relaxation time.
The device provides the physician with therapy-relevant information from the average stimulation intensity and the number of stimulation channels used.
