Tracheostomy and laryngectomy tubes

Tracheostoma is a surgically created artificial tracheal opening in the neck, such as after a laryngectomy or for serious swallowing disorders.

A tracheal cannula keeps the entrance open. People with a tracheal opening that is too small or with a tendency to inflammation or shrinkage in the area of the tracheostoma must wear such cannulas permanently.

Laryngectomy tubes keep the tracheostoma open in people with laryngectomy.
