Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy Tubes
Tracheostoma is a surgically created, artificial tracheal entrance in the neck, for example after a laryngectomy or in cases of serious swallowing disorders.
A tracheal cannula keeps the entrance open. People with a too small tracheal opening or with a tendency to inflammation or shrinkage in the area of the tracheostoma must wear such cannulas permanently.
Laryngectomy tubes keep the tracheostoma open in people with laryngectomy.
