In one of the women there is a spinal disorder and pulmonary function impairment. Her colleague has osteoarthritis in the knee joints. Both women have a degree of handicap (degree of disability) of 50

Job:

The women work as kitchen help in the nursery.

Workplace and duties (actual status):

The kitchen staff are responsible for the care of 219 children with food. This includes, in addition to the food counter for breakfast and lunch, and the Order of the food and wash the dishes. Breakfast and lunch are prepared in the kitchen and then transported manually to the food bank. After each meal, the used cutlery and crockery is then carried by the kitchen staff to the sink and rinsed by hand in a standing and flexed posture. The repetitive manual handling and a constant intake of long standing posture with flexed upper body caused considerable strain on the back and the knee of the two severely handicapped kitchen aids.

Workplace and duties (desired status):

To reduce the high body burdens a dishwasher and two trolleys were purchased, thus eliminating the necessary continuity when flushing stooped posture and manual carrying the meals and the dishes and cutlery. Both employees can now perform their tasks under only minor physical exertion.

Funding :

The disability-friendly design was sponsored by the Office integration. The necessary renewal of water and waste water facilities and the purchase of dishwasher-proof crockery took over the Employers in own contribution.
