Contraindications: - pathological low blood pressure - severe cardiac arrhythmias - unstable angina pectoris - decompensated cardiac insufficiency or hypotension

  • decompensated heart failure or hypotension, especially in conjunction with intravascular volume depletion
  • untreated pneumothorax
  • pneumomediastinum
  • signs of sinusitis or otitis media
  • severe nosebleeds or previous severe nosebleeds (risk of recurrence)
  • pneumoencephalus, recent trauma or surgery that has caused a cranio-nasopharyngeal fistula
