Respirators

Respirators are electrically, electromagnetically or pneumatically driven ventilators.

They are suitable for artificial respiration of people who themselves can only breathe inadequately or are suspended.

In home use, respirators are mostly used for sleep-related breathing disorders (e.g. sleep apnea). In this case, the respirator performs "assisted spontaneous breathing". The prerequisite is that the people can still control their breathing rate and depth independently.

Respirators can be found in the Statuatory Health Insurance's Medical Technical aids register under product group 14 "Inhalation and respiratory therapy devices".
