The mechanical "CoughAssist E70" is able to switch from overpressure to negative pressure, producing an artificial cough. It ensures that patients can secrete lungs secretions. A rapid pressure change is generated from the mains or battery operated table device via respiratory tube and face mask as well as mouthpiece or endotracheal or tracheostomy tube, which subsequently causes a high expiratory flow from the lungs and thus simulates a coughing impulse. This technique is referred to as mechanical insufflation exsufflation.
