Information on the Product

Model:

Allgemeine Beschreibung Zahnersatz

Product Type:
dentures

Description:
In the case of the prosthesis supply of missing teeth, a distinction is made between total prosthesis, toothless jaw and partial dentures (individual teeth are still preserved and necessary as support stops).

Prosthesis is used for the substitution of the tooth substance, caused by disease (caries, periodontosis, etc.), accident or natural decay.
The main functions of the dental prosthesis are:
1.) Restoration of the malfunction with regard to physiological (statics) and prophylactic aspects (atrophies, secondary caries, etc.)
2.) Recovery of a cosmetically satisfying situation
3.) Resolving any disturbances in phonetics. These requirements should be met without causing dentures neither secondary to the residual bite nor other pathological changes in the body.

The most common materials used in the production of dentures are:
- Plastics
- precious metals
- High-alloy steels
- ceramic materials

One differentiates between fixed (crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, etc.) and removable dentures (partial and total dentures). The varieties of dentures known in the field of dental technology are extraordinarily diverse, so only the most important ones are mentioned as follows:
The total prosthesis:
The total prosthesis is used when patients have already lost their residual dentition. It consists essentially of two components, firstly made from a plastic base (mainly made of a hot polymer), which ideally sucks the mucous membrane coating of the upper or lower jaw in the ideal case and for changing from a tooth set, which is shaped, Function corresponds to the requirements of the normally elderly patient.

The partial prosthesis:
The partial prosthesis is used when the patient still has a residual bite. It is composed essentially of two parts:a) plates, b) skeletal plates, and c) stirrups as base forms, and secondly, saddle pads, which supplement the lost teeth and jaw parts. In the design of a partial prosthesis, a whole series of patient-specific conditions must be taken into account, eg:
1) Prosthesis Foundation:
- Interruption of the row of teeth
- Shortening of the row of teeth
- Combine both possibilities
2) Prosthesis bearing:
- condition of the gingiva (firm, compliant)
- Structure of the jaw crest
3) Condition of the residual dentition (caries, periodontosis)
In order to anchor the partial prosthesis, special holding and supporting elements are required, which have the task of absorbing the various forces (pull, pressure, thrust, torsion, etc.).

The most common are:
- Wire and cast clamps, with and without support
- Attachments, telescopic crowns
- Rider and Anchor (Doldersteg)

The Crowns:
Substitution of a natural crown (usually damaged by caries) by an artificial crown standing firmly with the root. A distinction is made mainly between crowns of crowns (use in the case of the low-visible molar region) and veneer crowns (for the visible region of the front teeth and pre-molars).

Reasons for the use of crowns:
1) physiological and prophylactic:
- Recovery of the malfunction
- Complete the row of teeth
- Restoration of contact points
- Protection of antagonists
- Protection of the tooth from secondary caries
2) Phonetics and cosmetics:
The bridges are constructions that are anchored to existing natural teeth and roots, to which alone the chewing pressure is transferred, and occupy only the space provided for the natural teeth. They consist of bridge piers (the teeth to which the bridge is attached) and bridge bodies. (It represents the totality of the replacement teeth of a bridge)

Materials:
Crowns and bridges are made of a gold alloy (solid and scaffolding) and laminated plastic or ceramic (for the veneering of labial / buccal and occlusal surfaces.
