Advantages Plastic eye:
- unbreakable
- in winter thermally more favorable than the glass eye
Plastic eyelets are recommended for exceptional handling problems of elderly or disabled people.

Disadvantages Plastic eye:
The poor wettability of the material leads to tearing of the tear film and thus to the drying of the surface of the prosthesis. That is, the liquid spreads more unevenly on the plastic surface and is repelled (hydrophobic).
