Employee's disability and impairment:
The woman has paraplegia and is dependent on the use of a wheelchair. Her reach and mobility are limited due to her disability. The GdB (degree of disability) is 100. The severely disabled person's ID card contains the marks G, aG and H.
Job:
The woman is employed as an administrative specialist at the city administration and works there in the area of economic development, real estate and culture.
Workplace and work task:
The administrative specialist works in the office at a computer workstation in the area of economic development and culture. In the area of economic development, she performs organizational tasks. In the area of culture, she performs accounting for all municipal cultural events as well as ticket sales and various other activities.
The disability-related impairments are compensated in the workplace by:
The height-adjustable office cabinet for files enables the administrative specialist to ergonomically place and remove files from the cabinet. For this purpose, the cabinet has an electric motor drive that lowers the upper section or top box to the height required by the wheelchair user by remote control. The top box stops as a protective measure at the slightest touch, e.g. of the legs, and moves up again slightly.
The disability-related impairments are compensated in the workplace by:
- a desk that can be moved underneath with a wheelchair/electromotive height-adjustable desk,
- a wheelchair with a seat lift and
- a special filing cabinet.

Working environment - Mobility:
The administrative specialist uses her car, which has been converted to manual operation (accelerator and brake) and has an automatic transmission, to get to and from work. The driving license office and the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Agency) have imposed corresponding requirements for driving the car. She reaches her workplace from the parking lot via a lift.
On one floor of the building, a toilet room divided by a partition has been converted so that the administrative specialist can use it without any problems or barriers (e.g. when transferring from her wheelchair to the toilet).

Funding and participation:
The design suitable for disabled people was funded by the Integration or Inclusion Office. Advice was provided by the Technical Advisory Service of the Integration and Inclusion Office and the installation of the special filing cabinet was carried out by a joinery.
