Assistive products and adaptations for steering
Steering aids, for example, enable driving in cases of restricted movement of the upper extremities, lack of arm function or restricted growth.
Lighter power steering systems make the steering wheel less sluggish, and steering wheel grips allow steering with one hand. Linear lever steering systems can be operated with the knee, hand, toes or fingers. Special foot steering systems allow driving without arms. Steering column extensions make it easier for people of short stature to steer vehicles.
