Children's bicycles are not suitable in proportions for small people. Bicycles need to fit even more precisely for short people, because every centimeter too much or too little counts twice as a fault.
In the case of dysproportional short stature, e.g. achondroplasia or hypochondroplasia, a bicycle must be low and long with high handlebars. Most important are the short pedal cranks, which should be about 1/5 of the inside leg length. These must be combined with a correspondingly low bottom bracket, otherwise their advantage, the alleviation of the too narrow knee angle, is lost.
Bicycles for short people are custom built with all the features. Tyre sizes used are 12", 18" and 20" and 24". The wheel size is chosen so that the saddle is not lower than the mudguard of the rear wheel when properly adjusted.
If the motorization of a bicycle is desired, Velospeeder motors are installed. The friction roller motors, which run on the rim, weigh less than 2 kg
extra with a medium battery and a range of 35 km
