Areas of Application:
- Visually impaired
- Blindness
Description:
The blindFind navigation system based on Bluetooth technology contributes to the accessibility of buildings and their surroundings. It has already been tried and tested in some public buildings in the state capital of Dresden, such as the town hall and some of Dresden's public baths. BlindFind consists of the blindFind app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android as well as blindFind boxes that can be installed wirelessly. These boxes emit acoustic information that users can initiate via the app. This allows them to be guided to important points such as offices, toilets, elevators and stairs and receive information on orientation and navigation. This makes it easier or even possible for blind and visually impaired people to find their way around buildings and their surroundings and thus reach their destinations independently.
According to the manufacturer, the direct communication between the blindFind box and the user's smartphone or Apple Watch with the output of an acoustic signal via the blindFind box surpasses all existing solutions in terms of accuracy and user-friendliness. The blindFind app is available free of charge in the App Store and Play Store.
