Areas of Application:
- Visual impairment
- Blindness
Description:
The navigation system blindFind, based on Bluetooth technology, contributes to the accessibility of buildings and their surroundings. It is already tried and tested in some public buildings of the state capital Dresden, like the city hall and some Dresden baths. BlindFind consists of the blindFind app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android as well as blindFind boxes that can be attached wirelessly. The boxes emit acoustic information that users can initiate via the app. In this way, they can be guided to important points such as offices, toilets, elevators and stairs and receive information on orientation and navigation. This makes it easier for blind and visually impaired people to find their way around and reach their destinations in buildings and their surroundings independently.
According to the manufacturer, the direct communication between the blindFind box and the user's smartphone or Apple Watch with the output of an acoustic cue via the blindFind box surpasses all existing solutions in terms of accuracy and user-friendliness. The blindFind app is available for free in the App Store and Play Store.
