Since left-handed people have a different line of sight than right-handed people, this reading aid can be used to provide support. For left-handed readers, eye movement often proceeds from right to left, whereas the reading direction in German is from left to right. As a result, a left-handed child’s eye may jump to the right too early, causing letters to be integrated into a word prematurely. The reading aid covers this area, thereby supporting the gradual, correct formation of words letter by letter.
Since eye-hand coordination plays an important role, the fingertips of the left reading hand are printed on the aid. They remind the child of the correct reading hand, which replaces the usual index finger. The reading aid can also be used by right-handed children with reading difficulties as well as by people with dyslexia.
