Computers and Software

In this area, input devices, output devices and software can be found, which adapt computer terminals for people with disabilities.

Input devices and input aids:

  • Keyboards, mice and joysticks are designed so that they can be operated by people with one hand, with disabilities or by the blind
  • Virtual keyboards on the screen (on-screen keyboard) enable alternative computer control via voice or eye movement
  • Offer simple user interfaces

Output devices and output aids:

  • Display information from a computer via tactile signs
  • Provide acoustic output information from a computer through speech or other sounds
  • Software can read or enlarge displays
  • Printer can print tactile information on special paper
