The operation of the device is adapted to the needs of the visually impaired and blind and has been simplified through the use of acoustic signals and haptic elements. On the control panel and the rotary selector switch there are raised lines and symbols that can be felt and guide through the settings. In addition, each input is accompanied by an acoustic signal. The sounds differ for the different settings, so that independent operation is possible. Each washing machine comes with a
USB stick on which spoken instructions for use are stored in DAISY format.
There are tactile dots around the rotary selector switch that stand for the wash programs. The "Off" position is marked by a circle. Turning the switch selects a program and the unit turns on automatically. A notch on the knob indicates the selected position. If a change in the preset temperature, spin speed or other extras is desired, a guide line leads to the touch control panel. Individual settings can be made here. Each selection area is clearly distinguished by different haptic symbols.
Each program selection via the rotary selector and each setting via the touch control panel is accompanied by an acoustic signal. When the unit is switched on and off, a distinctive switch-on or switch-off melody sounds in each case. Different tones also signal the setting of temperature and speed. The acoustic signals are an orientation aid and provide assurance when selecting programs.
