Accessories include bed length adjustments, bed rails, bed ladders, bed gallows, bedspread holders and back supports.
Bed gallows or a bed ladder help a person to stand up. The bed gallows is a linkage that is attached to the head of the bed and hangs above the person with a triangle-shaped handle. The bed ladder is attached to the foot of the bed, allowing the person to pull themselves from rung to rung to an upright position. For either option, the bedridden person needs strength in the arms to sit up.
Bed rails protect the person from falling out of bed. There are continuous bed rails or divided ones, which protect only the upper body.
