Doors, windows, thresholds and flooring

An accessible building must meet various requirements in the area of doors, windows, thresholds and flooring.

Doors should be easy to recognize, open, close and pass through. Satisfactory contrast and avoidance of reflections should be considered. Windows should be easy to open and close from a standing and sitting position. Alternatively, operating aids can be installed for doors, windows and curtains.

Ramps serve to bridge thresholds. These can be fixed or mobile.

The floor coverings should be level, non-slip, easy to walk on or drive over and not electrostatically chargeable.
