Voice synthesizers and voice amplifiers are used for voice and speech disorders. People without a voice or with a very quiet voice can express themselves with speech using these assistive products.

These assistive products can:

  • Substitute the function of the vocal folds as an accoustic signal, in which electronic vibrations are generated and converted into speech
  • Make quiet voices understandable using a microphone and amplifier
