Barrier-free building

Barrier-free means that buildings and rooms, means of transport, technical objects of daily use, information technology, acoustic and visual information sources, as well as communication facilities, are accessible and usable for people with a functional impairment, problem-free and without support.

According to the law, public buildings, software and digital information services provided by government agencies must be barrier-free. In contrast, private companies are only obliged to provide barrier-free workplaces if they employ disabled employees.

There are various standards as a basis for planning as well as funding and consulting possibilities for construction and conversion measures in private and professional contexts.
